No SMTP expertise required. If you can fill out a form, you can send email reliably.

1
🔐

Enable 2-Factor Auth

Turn on two-factor authentication in your Google account settings. This is required to generate an App Password.

2
🗝️

Generate App Password

In your Google account, create an App Password specifically for WordPress. Takes under 60 seconds.

3

Enter & Save Settings

Paste your Gmail address and App Password into the plugin settings. Save — and you're done. Emails go out immediately.

App Password

This is not gmail password. This is gmail app password. Get app password

That's literally it. Two fields and a save button. No confusing settings, no API keys, no OAuth flows — just your Gmail and App Password.

One Prerequisite

Before you start

There's one thing to set up in Google — then you're done.

⚠️

Two-Factor Authentication required

Google requires 2FA to be active on your account before you can generate an App Password. If you haven't already, enable it in Google Account → Security → 2-Step Verification. It takes about 2 minutes and significantly improves your account's security too.

What's Included

Everything you need, nothing you don't

This plugin is intentionally focused. It does one thing and does it well.

FAQ

Questions & Answers

Is this plugin really free?
Yes — completely free, with no premium version, upsells, or hidden features locked away. It's hosted on WordPress.org and always will be free to use.
Why do I need an App Password instead of my regular Gmail password?
Google no longer allows third-party apps to use your main Gmail password for SMTP access. App Passwords are special one-time passwords generated for individual apps. They're more secure because you can revoke access to any single app without changing your main password. You can generate one at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords after enabling 2FA.
Does this work with Google Workspace (G Suite) accounts?
Yes — it works with both personal Gmail (@gmail.com) accounts and Google Workspace accounts. The App Password setup process is the same for both.
Will this affect my existing Gmail inbox?
No. Emails sent through WordPress SMTP are outgoing only. Your Gmail inbox, filters, and existing settings are completely unaffected. Sent WordPress emails will appear in your Gmail "Sent" folder.
Is there a sending limit?
Gmail allows up to 500 emails per day for personal accounts and up to 2,000 per day for Google Workspace accounts. For high-volume transactional sending, a dedicated service like SendGrid or Mailgun may be more appropriate.
Is my App Password stored securely?
The App Password is stored in your WordPress database, the same place other plugin settings are stored. For additional security, make sure your WordPress site uses strong admin passwords and keeps its installation up to date.
